I wanted to let you all know that there are more additions to the 2014 Quilt-alongs and BOMs. I’ve been adding them over on my Pinterest Board as I locate them. You can see that HERE.
The first block pattern for the Sugar Cube Block Quilt Along became available on January 1st for those who registered for the QAL. At that point I really had to decide what I was going to do about fabrics. You can still join and it’s early enough you can certainly finish one block before February 1st. Sugar Cube Quilt Along 2014 information is HERE.
It’s never easy to settle on any one grouping of fabrics as there are so many beauties out there. My decision was made based on what I had in my stash. I had decided, even before I signed up, that I would use mainly what was in my stash and try to keep my purchasing for this project to a minimum. After looking at my meager stash (remember, I live in a RV), I decided to use the black on whites, whites on blacks, Kona white, and bright yellows. I really love the combination of black, white and yellow. Remember this project?
I just love the bright yellow with the black and white in this purse I made for the “U R Priceless” Blog Hop last year. I use that little sewing kit all the time so I get to enjoy those colors. That was the deciding factor; I love that so much I use it a lot so it seems like I would love a quilt top made of those three colors. Decision complete!
The block was a lovely block to make and not difficult at all. It look very little time really. That’s good because I have a stack of projects I want to complete right away. I have a big project ahead that I want to start on, but I’ll save that for another post. Here’s my block.
Kona white and that gray are the two basics that will be seen in most every block I would expect. The other fabrics will change and appear now and then, along with some others I have in my stash (and two I bought this past week).
This is going to be a fun Quilt Along. I love this block and I’m sure the others will be great blocks too! Did you join any Quilt-Alongs for 2014?
I hope things have warmed up for everyone!
