Since I’m busy with some blocks for the Summer Block Party that I can’t share here right now, I thought you might like to see what Quilt-y Cousin is doing for her current projects.
Nina makes a lot of charity quilts, for the Wounded Warriors Project, Quilts of Valor and various agencies raising money to fight cancer. She is just about to mail her latest Quilts of Valor “flimsy” to be quilted on a volunteer’s long arm quilter. She got the name and address this morning to mail to, so it will be in the mail tomorrow I guessing. Here’s what she has to send.
She finished up a wall-hanging this evening while I was busy paper-piecing some blocks. I think it’s gorgeous! It was a panel she’s added batting backing and quilting to.
That’s it for today. I really did spend most of the day on my two Summer Block Party blocks. Of course, Nina’s cousin from the other side of the family came to visit so there was a lot of chatting going on. That makes stitching all day so much fun!!
I have to admit I did make at least one mistake that had to receive the sharp end of my Combi-Cut tool. I’m happy I just replaced the one I broke using it for a purpose it wasn’t meant for! I had to send away to get the Combi-Cut but it’s worth it; it’s a comfortably shaped, sharp seam ripper with an adequate pair of tweezers on the other end. You just push a button to get one side or the other out to use.
Keep on “keeping on”, ladies. Let those sewing machines sing!
